Edwin's new bike!

Hello everyone...here's the little card I did with an Edwin image. It's pretty basic...didn't want to make it too frou-frou. I've decided that I definitely prefer making cards w/little girl images because then I can add lots of flowers and other "Fancy Nancy" embellishments. But, Edwin needed to make an appearance on my blog too...so here he is. Enjoy. Pat

My trip to Leesburg...

Hello everyone...OMG...I had such a great time with Suzanne Dean yesterday at my Copics lesson. I have been using Copics for just a couple of months and have watched all of her videos on You-Tube...but believe me, I learned so much in those short few hours I spent with her. She is such a sweet lady...so gracious and supportive!! My biggest challenge has always been shading...and I have to say, eventhough I colored a few images while I was there, I am most proud of the blue ball I colored!! Seriously...it's the best ball I EVER colored in my life!!! I know...not a big deal for most people, but for me - who spent a lifetime wanting to be artistic - it's HUGE! So, of course, I had to scan and post the blue ball here so that you could all delight in my accomplishment!! hehehe! Now I can't wait to sign up for Suzanne's online Copic classes. Am off to finish my Edwin card so I can start coloring some Easter images! (Nothing like waiting 'til the last minute!) Have a beautiful Tuesday! Pat

Tomorrow's Monday!

Thank you all for visiting my blog...and for all your sweet and encouraging comments about my work. It means so much to me. I hope you all had a beautiful weekend and are ready to tackle another week. As promised yesterday, I've been working on a cute little Edwin card...kind of simple but fun. I haven't quite finished adding the buttons...so it's not quite ready for the "big reveal" here. No time to finish it tonight, though, sorry...I have to get a good night's sleep because Monday we leave Richmond bright and early to travel to Leesburg so I can take a Copics lesson from Suzanne Dean. I'm so excited I could just about burst! She's such a talented artist...I'm hoping some of her creativity rubs off on me while I'm in her studio!! Keep an eye out for a card in the next day or so. Catcha later...Pat

Deee-Lish

Hello all...and happy Saturday to you. I hope your weekend is going well. My hubby and I had a great day...we went to see a Washington & Lee University (my husband's alma mater) men's lacrosse game. They played Randolph-Macon in Ashland, VA (not far from Richmond)...and W&L won! YAY!! Then we had a little lunch date. After we got home I had a chance to spend a little time in my craft room while hubby watched college basketball...and I made this little card for a very special person...Anita Newcister. We've known each other for our entire lives...and Anita has been a real inspiration to me since I started crafting and cardmaking! So...Anita, this one's for you, darlin'. Hugs! (So...Anita...your eyes better be closed as you read this!)

Hope you enjoy little Tilda in the kitchen! I used Stampin-Up cardstock (pretty in pink & close to cocoa), designer paper is from DCWV, sentiment stamp is from Hampton Art. I've included a pic of the Copic markers I used. Flowers are Prima...and buttons & ribbon are from my stash. As always, thank you for all of your comments! Pat

It's raining, it's pouring...

Happy Friday everyone! Well, I didn't quite finish a card yesterday...but I almost finished 2 books! Too bad almost doesn't count! Today I woke up to a rainy day here in Richmond, VA...a little chilly, too, compared to our last few days of temps in the mid-70s. But it's the perrrrfect day to stay inside and ...oh, I don't know, CRAFT maybe?!! So here's the little lady I just finished. It's the first time I've inked this stamp and I am pretty pleased with the finished product. I used a variety of scraps of paper and ribbon, some Prima roses, some stickles on the raindrops and the scroll at the bottom right, a couple of pearls, and I glazed Tilda's boots, her pocket, and umbrella top with Inkssentials Glossy Accents to make them shiny. The sentiment is an old stamp from Stampin-Up...but I thought it would be a cute touch!

I hope you enjoy this card...it was such fun to make! As always, thank you so much for stopping by and for any comments you might like to leave. Have a beautiful weekend! Pat

Wednesday...busy day

Hello all...it was a fun and very busy day. I didn't even get a chance to make any new cards...but I did buy a couple of new Martha Stewart punches...and some more Stickles. I also got some storage containers to organize my craft room. Plus, I got the coolest over-the-door plastic shoe holder...and it now very conveniently stores all of my punches. (I wish I could say I thought that one up myself...but I can't take credit for it. I saw it on Suzanne Dean's blog!) Then, while I was filling out an application online for a new job (yep, I'm hoping to be gainfully employed again soon...yay...more stamps, more stamps!), my doorbell rang...it was the FedEx man with a huge box of Copic markers!! So, I was even more inspired to get organized. Am looking forward to Thursday when I can hide out in my craftroom all morning and ink up some of my new stamps!! Can't wait. Have a beautiful night...see y'all tomorrow! Pat

Just a note...

Happy Tuesday! This is a fun easel card that I'm thinking of entering into one of this week's Just Magnolia Challenges. I'll just have to figure out how to do that. (Remember, I'm not exactly a computer wizard!) I had such a fun time making this card...Cardstock (vanilla & creamy caramel) is from Stampin-Up. Designer paper is from Tapestry/C.R. Gibson, and K&Company. Ribbon, flowers, & pearls came from my stash! I used Copics to color Tilda as follows:

Face: E11, 00, 000, & R20 (this is pretty much becoming my standard)
Hair: E19, 15, 11, & YR21
Dress & socks: BG72, 10, 0000; for the lace I used C1
Feather & pages of book: C7, 3, & 1
Book cover: E29 & 31

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look. Have a great evening. I'll catcha later. Pat

Tilda in polka-dots...

Happy Monday, everyone. I woke up to a thunderstorm this morning. The puppies went outside, took one look at the rain, and turned right around and came back inside! Not to worry, though...the storm moved through Richmond pretty quickly...and now the sun is trying to peek out...so the pups were able to go outside after all! Needless to say, I decided it was a perfect day to hang out in my craft room! Here's sweet little Tilda in pink & lavender polka-dots. The truth is, I had no intention of covering Tilda's pinafore with polka-dots...but, when I removed the cap from one of my Copic markers, I splashed a small spot of ink right on the pinafore! So...I improvised...and Tilda got herself some polka-dots!! (LOL). Oh...and then I decided to add some Inkssentials Glossy Accents to her shoes, ribbons, and polka-dots (to make them really stand out!) Designer paper came from K & Company...and here are the Copics I used:

Face: E11, 00, 000, R20
Hair: E25, 99, 33, YR21
Dress & socks: RV25, 23, 21
Pinafore: V17, 12, & 000 (I used V17 & RV 25 for the dots)
Shoes: C9, 7, 5, 3, 1

Thanks so much for stopping by...and thanks for your comments! Have a beautiful evening! (I'm already planning my next 3 cards!) Pat

First Day of Spring...

What a beautiful weekend we've had here in Richmond, VA! Perfect Spring weather!! Mid-70s and sunny...trees are starting to bud! We opened up all the windows in the house. It was absolutely spectacular! We've had a pretty crazy winter...with far more snow than we've had in the 5 years we've been here...so I'm especially excited about Spring this year! I did have a little time to craft this weekend...I made my first ever easel card...it was soooooooooo much fun. I will definitely make more!! I'm still struggling w/my photo-taking abilities. Hopefully you'll be able to see how beautiful the Spring colors are. I'm also posting a cute little card w/a Sarah Kay image. I'm still learning shading...I'm getting better, though. I am so excited, I get to meet Suzanne Dean a week from tomorrow...and I expect to learn much during that 3-hour Copics lesson! Then I can check out her online classes. I'm kind of enjoying my semi-retirement!! I wonder how I ever had time to work!! Thanks so much for stopping by to take a peek at my little treasures!

Copics used on the Magnolia card were:
E11, 00, 000, & R20 - Face
V17, 15, 12, 0000 - dress & socks
G24, 21, & 20, Y000 & 02 - wrapping paper on box (to make yellow-green)
E35, 31, & Y23 (hair)
E35, 34, & 31 (cardboard box top)

I used Stampin-Up Amethyst & Celery cardstock...and designer paper & embellishments from my stash.

Hope you enjoy...and thanks sooooo much for stopping by and for your comments! Pat

What's Cookin'

Hello all...and happy Thursday night. We had the most beautiful Spring-like day here in Richmond, VA...sunny and 70. The dogs (we have 2 toy poodles) were thrilled to get out and take a nice long walk. I did find time for some "therapy" ...here's another Tilda stamp that I just love, love, LOVE! I colored her using Copics as follows: E11, 00, 000, R20 (face); E99, 33, YR21 (hair); R22, 20, 000 (pinafore); BG01, 02, 000 (dress, scarf, & pocket); R20 & 000 (socks); E59, 25, & 33 (spoon & shoes); YR21 & 07 (ribbon around spoon). I used Stampin-Up cardstock (blush blossom), and designer paper by DCWV. I decided to use a paper doilie as part of my layering...but, after I had the card assembled, I realized I'd accidentally used 2 doilies that were stuck together! So, rather than deconstructing the card, I just separated the edges of the doilie and decided to pretend that it was my intent to use two!! hehe! I hope you enjoy her...and, as always, thank you sooooo much for stopping by! Tomorrow's Friday...YAY! Pat

arrgghh, matey!

Hello everyone...I know it's St. Paddy's Day...but I just couldn't wait to ink up my husband's favorite Maggie: Pirate Tilda! I thought I'd try Suzanne Dean's distress technique w/Copics. Well...let me just say this...more practice w/this technique is definitely warranted!! That said, I thought Tilda turned out "not bad" for my first try w/distressing! Then I found this wonderful designer paper (by Me & My Big Ideas)...so I threw this card together. I am definitely going to color another pirate Tilda tonight so that I can practice. Copics used: E13, 11, 00, R22, R20 (face); R20 & C1 (skull flag); R20, B95, & B91 (dress & bandana); E29, 27, & 31 (hair); E47, 25, 53, & 41 (flagpole & shoes), and W3 to grunge up the corners a bit. I used a skull & crossbones paper punch by Martha Stewart for inside the card. Sentiment on front was computer generated. Thanks so much for stopping by...and, as always, thank you for your comments. Enjoy!

Bashful Tilda...

Happy Tuesday! Haven't quite gotten used to this whole Daylight Savings Time yet...I just know I lost an hour of sleep...that should have given me an additional hour for crafting...but I still feel like I'm trying to catch up! So...here's a sweet little card I worked on ALL DAY!! (Well, not really ALL day...but almost 6 hours!) I had the hardest time w/my coloring & shading...and I ended up tossing two images before I got it sort of right! I need a little more patience and a lot more practice!

I used Stampin Up cardstock (banana, celery, & regal rose), and a variety of designer papers from Basic Grey and DCWV. Copic colors used were: E11, E00, E000, & R20 (face, legs, & elbow); E25, E99, E33, & YR21 (hair); R85, R83, R81 (dress); G24, G21, & G20 (pinafore & socks); E57, E47, & E43 (shoes). Because the papers were so busy, I opted to go very simple on embellishments! I decided to decorate the inside a bit as well...to tie it in with the front. I hope you enjoy her!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great night...and don't forget...tomorrow's St. Patrick's Day...so wear something green!! :-) Pat

Something in yellow...just for Dee

Chilly and damp here in Richmond, VA...not a problem, though, since I'm in my cozy craft room creating some fun cards to share with y'all. Here's a sweet little card made with Stampin'Up cardstock (celery), designer paper by K&Company, and one of my favorite little Whipper Snapper stamps. Of course I had to add some little embellishments...all in green and yellow...because my sister in MN. needs to see something that feels like Spring!! Enjoy! And thanks for stopping by to take a look. Have a beautiful day.

Baby Tingla in Lavender

I've been busy...what can I say? I stamped two of these little darlings and decided to do this one in lavenders. I have an aversion to wings on kids, so I removed them once again. Here are the Copics I used: (face) E21, E00, E000, R20; (hair) E97, E99, Y21; (jammies & footies) V17, V15, V12, Voooo. I'm still practicing shading & blending. Can't wait 'til my class w/Suzanne. Thanks for looking! Catcha later...

Baby Tingla...

This is so cool...I figured out how to import a photo.! (You could only appreciate what a magnanimous feat that is if you knew how techno-challenged I am!!) So...I'm thrilled to be able share one of my "Maggie" cards with you. She's sweet little Tingla...I colored her with the following Copics: (face) E11, E00, E000, R20; (hair) E35, YR23, Y23; (jammies) R39, R85, R83, R81. Hope you enjoy her. Thanks for stopping by. Catcha later! ;-)

My first post...

...on my first ever blog! Let me just say that I wish I had listened to my mother 25 years ago when she told me to study computers! A special thanks to my daughter-in-law, Christy, for helping me with this. I swear, creating this blog was harder than natural childbirth of a nearly 10# baby!! Seriously, it may take a "normal" person (including my 11-year-old grandaughter, Emma) 15 minutes to create a blog...it took me a full day!!

I swore I wouldn't do this blog thing...but then I discovered those darling and completely addictive Tilda & Edwin (Magnolia) stamps...and joined the Magnolia-licious Yahoo group...and the rest is, as they say, history! So, here I am, sharing my crafting/cardmaking "journey". Thanks so much for stopping by...catchya later! ;-)
